For the Grown-Ups
This pattern was inspired by the many, many pairs of longies I have knit for babies and children over the years! I always found myself wishing I had some of my very own. It was a long time before I ended up making that dream a reality, but I’m so glad I did! These pants are the ultimate in comfort, perfect for when you want to relax around the house with a yummy snack or drink while enjoying your favourite pastime.
They are knit top down, in the round. Features include doubled over waistband and cuffs, short rows, a narrow gusset, and shaping through the legs. The pattern is written for two yarn weights: DK/light worsted, and worsted/aran.
Sizes Available:
XXS(XS/S/M/L/XL) to fit hips: 31-33(34-36/37-38/39-41/42-44/45-47) inches
Approximate Yardage (about 20% in coordinating colour) - please keep in mind that the inseam is about 75-80% of the total yardage:
DK/light worsted version: 1150(1250/1350/1450/1550/1650)
Worsted/Aran version: 1100(1200/1300/1400/1500/1600)
Gauge
DK/light worsted version: 22 sts in 4 inches
Worsted/Aran version: 18 sts in 4 inches
As written, the pants are meant to have a loose fit with 1-3 inches of positive ease, depending on hip measurement - reminiscent of cozy flannel pajama pants! For a snugger fit with negative or no ease, like you would find with stretchy yoga pants, knit one size down.
