These socks are a tribute to my Saluki x Greyhound Bear, and to all long-legged, pointy-nosed sighthounds

They are knitted from the toe up, with a centre-sole gusset, short row heel, and integral slip-stitch heel-flap, which involves no picking up of stitches.

The integral heel flap makes these quite stretchy. They fit a uk woman’s size 5, but The foot length is easily adjusted as is the leg.

The pattern works really well with a dark variegated yarn with short colour runs, as long as the overall colours have similar tonal values. When paired with a contrast of creamy white, the individual colours pop like jewels through the pattern, without detracting from the overall design.

I used about 50g of 4ply sock yarn in each colour, but if you make a larger size, you may need more yarn.
