For The Trees
“Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.”
- The Lorax by Dr Seuss.
This pattern is the coming together of memory and idea. While reading The Lorax to my children one night I was reminded of a road trip through rainforests in Tasmania. I remembered seeing rainforest abruptly coming to an end with large areas of cleared land with a lot of bits of trees left scattered about. Such a contrast between the greenness of the rainforest around it, I looked on in disbelief. Out of a desire to want to do something for this place we call home and for my children I started to write this pattern. Think of it as a way to speak for the trees, those pulled down and burnt down. You can’t really have too many trees, I don’t think! Money from the sale of this pattern will be donated to Trees For Life SA and Greening Australia.
About The Socks
The socks begin from the toe with one long circular needle, magic loop. The pattern begins on the top of the foot and continues up the front of the leg. With two versions provided you can work the pattern also along the back of the leg or not depending on how adventurous you are. The sock is worked all the way to the cuff with an afterthought heel added at the end. The pattern is written and includes a chart for the stitch pattern.
