For The Trees
Black Trillium Fibres dyed an exclusive colorway called “The Lorax”, a childhood favorite from Dr.
Seuss. This shawl, which takes its name from a well-known line in the book, is my first true lace shawl
design that is essentially worked over a twelve row repeat before finished off with a lovely border. This is
a perfect one skein wonder, but the repeating section make it easily customizable for whatever size and
yardage you’d like. Chart and written instructions are included depending on your preference, so cast on
this light accessory for any time of the year!
MATERIALS:
One Skein of Black Trillium Fibres: Lilt Sock (85%
Merino Wool, 15% Silk. 405 yds.) Colorway –
Jimmy Bean Wool Exclusive: The Lorax
US 5 47” circ needle
Two stitch markers
Tapestry Needle
GAUGE AND MEASUREMENTS:
8 sts x 10 rows in lace pattern.
(Gauge not critical for this project)
Wingspan: About 57”
Depth: About 23”
PATTERN NOTES: This project had leftovers, so gauge is not critical for this project, so long as you have
at least 400 yards of yarn for the project. Additionally, this pattern can be expanded by repeating the
lace body repeats more than the instructed amount. Read the pattern and chart before casting on to
familiarize yourself with the construction.
