Foramina Cardigan

Foramina is a cardigan inspired by my Foramina Tee. It’s knitted top down, seamless, with a simple lace yoke and a nice little ribbing detail. It’s knitted with an airy gauge showing off gorgeous Fibrani’s base Nuage and is perfect for fall. The lace reminds me of the nerves that come out all along the spine through the intervertebral foramina and that’s why I decided to call it Foramina!

Needles and notions

• Needles: 5mm/US 8 and 4mm/US 6 with a long cable (32”/80 cm)
• Stitch marker: between 10 and 14 depending on the size
• Tapestry needle
• Buttons: between 7 and 11 depending on the size, 15mm
• Measuring tape

Yarn

1 color in 2 different bases, 1 fluffy yarn for MC and a worsted weight yarn for CC (or you can use fingering + mohair or suri only for MC and 2 fingering held together for CC)

• Main Color (MC): Fibrani, Nuage, 38% baby alpaca/37% Pima cotton/25% Merino, 100g, 400 m/437 y – Yvi
• Contrasting Color (CC): Fibrani, Flocon, 100% Merino N-SW, 100g, 225 m/246 y – Yvi

You will need about 520 (600, 690, 820, 970, 1070) meters / 569 (656, 755, 897, 1061, 1170) yards of MC and 120 (135, 145, 160, 180, 225) meters / 131 (148, 159, 175, 197, 246) yards of CC.

Available sizes

A (B, C, D, E, F) / 33.5 (39, 41.5, 47, 52, 60) inches / 83.8 (99, 104, 119.4, 132, 152.4) cm. The measure is taken from the biggest part of the bust including 0 to 6 inches/15 cm of positive ease.

On the pictures, I’m wearing the size C with 2 inches of positive ease.

Cardigan Foramina

Le cardigan Foramina inspiré du t-shirt portant le même nom se tricote du haut vers le bas, sans couture, avec une dentelle simple et un joli petit détail aux côtes. Il se tricote avec un échantillon aéré pour mettre en valeur la magnifique base Nuage de Fibrani et est parfait pour l’automne. La dentelle me fait penser aux nerfs qui sortent tout le long de la colonne vertébrale par les foramens intervertébraux et c’est pour ça qu’il se nomme Foramina!

• Aiguilles: 4 mm/US 6 et 5 mm/US 8 avec une longue corde (32”/80 cm)
• Marqueur de mailles: entre 10 et 14 selon la grandeur choisie
• Boutons: entre 7 et 11 selon la grandeur tricotée, 15 mm de diamètre

• Ruban à mesurer

Laine

1 couleur en 2 sortes de laines, une laine ‘fluff’ pour MC et une worsted pour CC (ou suri ou fingering + mohair seul pour MC et fingering doublé pour CC)

• Couleur Principale (MC): Fibrani, Nuage, 38% bébé alpaga/37%, coton/25% Mérino, 100g, 400 m/437 verges – Yvi
• Couleur Contrastante (CC): Fibrani, Flocon, 100% Mérino non traité, 100g, 225 m/246 verges – Yvi
