Forbidden Cliffs is a striking yet simple lace shawl that can be made in various yarn weights. The size is adjustable based on how many times the lace chart is worked.
Options are included for a deeper stockinette section at the top and for two different finishing edges; in addition, the garter ridges could easily be worked in a contrasting color. Hint: This would work up beautifully in a long gradient yarn….just work it until you are close to running out of yarn then bind off.
Construction is top-down and triangular in shape. The pattern has stockinette rows and a garter ridge before starting the lace section. This shawl can be worked in fingering to DK weight yarn and the size is adjustable by how many times the lace chart is worked. The lace pattern is easily memorized and goes rather quickly.
The instructions are both written and charted and the pattern has been professionally tech edited and tested.
DESIGN INSPIRATION
This shawl is inspired by the Forbidden Cliffs on the central coast of Oregon. “It is the forbidden part of Neahkahnie Mountain. A secret place near Manzanita - and for good reason (it’s dangerous as hell) - it is one of the stranger and more startlingly beautiful places on all of Oregon’s Coast. Wild and untamed barely describe what’s happening here.” (Photos and information courtesy of Oregon Coast Beach Connection)
