Forest Lace Scarf
There comes a time in the life of most knitters when lace knitting becomes a goal. First there are the dainty eyelets, then begins the adventure of mastering classic lace patterns. The Forest Lace Scarf is a perfect project for learning one of the most popular and enduring lace works: Old Shale (sometimes referred to as Feather and Fan). The pattern is easily memorized, carried over only four rows, and, because this is a scarf, entails no shaping. For more experienced knitters, some subtle striping keeps those four row repeats from becoming monotonous. For extra pizzazz, a row of beaded crochet chain stitches, attached to the body of scarf with single crochet stitches is applied after completion, adorning both short edges. Non-crocheters can skip this edge or review these two easy crochet stitches online for use.
This scarf was knit with Ella Rae Lace Merino in a solid color and a variegated color stripe. The scarf is generously sized at 72” x 10”. Directions are completely written. Gauge is not critical but will determine completed size.
