This is a bonnet for adults :)

Please make a swatch first to see you have 5.5 stitches per inch. Depends on your hands tension, you might need a size or two size larger or smaller pair of needles.

Coarser wool is recommended to show the stitch patterns better.
Please avoid alpaca or merino wool if you want more enhanced look of the stitch pattern. with that being said, if softness is priority, I recommend using a worsted weight merino instead of dk.

-light pink sample is made with one strand of dk weight blue face leister wool.
-minty color sample is made with 1 strand of fingering weight blue face leister wool and a strand of lace weight mohair held together.
this yarn combo was too thin. the fabric came out thinner and less puckered than pink sample. instead, I would hold 2 strands of fingering weight and a strand of lace weight mohair next time.

All the material you need besides yarn are:

  • circular needles any length longer than 10” with the size that you can achieve 5.5sts/1”
  • dp needles 2 sizes smaller than the needle above
  • tapestry needle
  • stitch markers
  • stitch holder

This pattern will have you make a rectangle shape for the top of the head first, then pick up stitches from both sides of the rectangle while the stitches at the end of the rectangle are alive to work for the part around the head. ruffles around the face will be added after.
