Fort Astoria Scarf
Built in 1811, Fort Astoria (also called Fort George) was the first American-owned settlement on the Pacific coast. This National Historic Landmark, located in downtown Astoria, Oregon, consists of a reconstructed Block House and inspired the knit panel and mock cable motifs of this predominately garter stitch scarf.

Approximately 72-76”/183-193 cm long by 7-9”/18-23 cm wide at the center, measured blocked
Materials:
Approximately 380 yards fingering
Needles:
US 4 / 3.5 mm
Or needle size necessary to achieve gauge

Stitch markers (7 total in three distinct colors or types), tapestry needle
Gauge:
22 stitches by 34 rows over 4”/10 cm in stockinette after blocking (as this is not a fitted garment, exact gauge is not overly important)
