Inspired by the Gothic architecture and historic palaces of Venice, Italy, the Foscari Mitts is the sister design to the Foscari Socks pattern! This elegant fingerless mitten features twisted stitches that form a diamond motif between columns of seed stitch. The engaging stitch work will have you saying, “just one more row!”
The pattern includes charted and written instructions. The Foscari Mitts are knit seamlessly from the bottom to the top ribbing.
Yarn
One 100-gram skein of fingering weight sock yarn.
Suggested yarn: Botanical Yarn’s 4-ply Merino Sock base (75% superwash merino, 25% nylon; 465 yards/ 425 meters/ 100g).
Many of my test knitters used partial (below 75g) skeins from their stash, so this would be a great way to make use of leftovers!
Suggested Needle Size
US size 1 (2.25 mm) needle
Pattern is written using the Magic Loop method, but can easily be adapted for DPNs or 9” circular needles.
Gauge
34 sts x 52 rows = 4 inches in stockinette in the round after blocking.

- 1 (56 stitches) approx. 6 inches / 17.5 cm circumference at the widest part of the hand
- 2 (64 stitches) – approx. 7 inches / 20 cm circumference at the widest part of the hand
