Named for a street in York, where a gate is a street and a bar is a gate. The tweedy wool and cashmere blend is gloriously soft and warm for beautiful misty fall days on the low moor or bundling up next to the fire at pub quiz.

**

A stockinette and garter shawl in two colors, Fossgate uses a simple lace pattern to create a chevron effect. It takes one ball each of two colors of Debbie Bliss Fine Donegal, or approximately 400 yards of each color for substitutes.

The center stitches are a floating slipped stitch cable that can easily be done without a cable needle, moving only one stitch at a time.

**

There are three charts for this shawl as well as fully written instructions. The lace is very, very simple and the full repeat is very easy to memorize, but I have provided line by line instructions for each of the charts. The charts for Section B/D and E are uncolored so you can fill in your colors if you like. I have given the color repeats in Main Color (MC) and Contrast Color (CC) for each section along the edge of charts 1 and 3 so you can easily cross out each line as you go along.
