This quick knit hat begins with a doubled stockinette brim that is folded and knitted together. The body has a basketweave pattern topped with a pleated crown that frames an optional tassel or pom pom.

You’ll need approximately 190 yds of DK weight yarn. The hat is stretchy in all directions and fits a wide variety of heads. For women’s medium, consider using a needle size smaller than the body.

You will need a cable needle or spare needle for making the pleats at the crown.
