Four Squared: The Hartrich was inspired by a modern, colorful quilt I discovered on Instagram. “Four Squared” because each square never has more than 16 stitches active at any given time. “The Hartrich” because Laura Hartrich was my Instagram muse. The result is a refreshing, modern update on knitted blankets.

My blanket is perfectly sized for a baby, but could easily be modified for a larger size by using heavier yarn or adding more squares.

I used 3 skeins of Madelinetosh Twist Light in Farmhouse White and another 1,200 yards of contrast yarn for the accent colors. This is a perfect project to use up those scraps!

Two US 3 needles, a crochet hook, a sewing needle are needed to complete this project. A blocking mat and pins are useful, but not required.

Gauge is not required for this project, but not matching the suggested gauge could impact yardage requirements.
