Playful and curious foxes are frequent visitors to my backyard. Hopefully they will take away your dirty dishes!

The techniques for this pattern are easy! You only need knit and slipped stitches to create the pattern, and only one colour of yarn is used at a time. This is a great introduction to the techniques used for “mosaic knitting”, and creates a cute and practical cloth in no time!

There are two sets of instructions included - “Red Fox”, which uses the background colour for the chest and tail, and “Arctic Fox”, which has the whole fox in one solid colour.

This pattern also includes optional instructions to do the eyes and nose colour differently from the contrast colour on either side (using basic intarsia/colour blocking techniques).

Yarn:
Worsted weight cotton yarn (4) in two or three contrasting colours, approximately 36m/40 yards of the background and fox colours. Cotton yarn is recommended for dishcloths; but any fibre (or weight) would work for the pattern.

Gauge is not critical for this project, but will affect the finished size and yardage required.

Needles: 4.5mm (US size 7) straight knitting needles

Finished Dimensions: Approximately 9” square.

Pattern instructions: Written and charted instructions
