This little faux-fox fur scarf is quite a bit cuter than the real thing! It adds a fun touch to any outfit.

The body of the fox has two layers; the top orange layer is in stockinette for a sleek look, and the white under layer is garter stitch to add squishy warmth and keep the stockinette flat. There is a lot of seaming involved, but it’s well worth it to get the three-dimensional quality.

The scarf can be knit to any length you desire, but keep in mind that a longer scarf will use more of both orange and white yarn.
The scarf shown used the following amounts of yarn:
45 yds/42 m of orange
60 yds/55 m of white
5 yds/5 m of black

Other supplies you will need: Eyes of some kind; I used 10 mm black plastic eyes, a yarn needle for sewing up, waste yarn for a provisional cast on.

Any worsted weight yarn can be used, and any fiber content. The yarns I chose give the scarf a certain amount of drape; wool yarn would create a loftier, warmer scarf.
I used KnitPicks Shine Worsted yarn for the orange fur because I love the soft sheen. The specific color I used (Clementine) is sadly no longer available, but the “Sweet Potato” color would likely give a nice effect.

The pattern has full written instructions, and also includes charts for those who (like me!) prefer more visual instructions.

Techniques used: Provisional cast on, seaming, increases and decreases, color changes.
