Like ice floes on the big lake, a crystal glass that slips from the hand, and any of us after a few too many libations, beautiful things get fractured all the time.

Our Fractured Socks nod to the dissipated elegance of the unmended. Worked only in knits and purls, with slightly different designs on the left and right feet, this pattern turns out complementary bent-but-unbroken beauties. Whether you’re looking to dive into the next glass of booze or reflect on the damage already done, these socks are the right companion.

Construction: These unisex socks are worked in the round from the cuff down with a heel flap.

Motif: The fractured motif is worked around the whole leg through the cuff, but it is only worked on the top half of the foot. Additionally, the right and left socks are complimentary but not identical, so the fractures flow across the feet.

Yarn and Yardage: 1 skein Why Knot Fibers’ Sole, a hand-dyed merino-nylon yarn, in the Ripple colorway; or approximately 270(300, 335, 370, 400) yards of fingering weight yarn.

Sizes: 7.25(8, 8.75, 9.5, 10.25) inches around, 7.5(8.5, 9.5, 10, 11) inches long at the foot, and 7(7, 8, 8, 9) inches long at the cuff.

To Fit: Child Large/Women’s Extra Small(Women’s Small, Women’s Medium/Men’s Small, Women’s Large/Men’s Medium, Men’s Large).

Instructions: The stitch pattern is only charted.
