The pattern was made to be subtly shown.

My head is about 22 inches. If you need to make the hat bigger by increasing stitches add new stitches by 2’s after 48 stitches. If you are using DPN’s you would add the extra stitches at the end of the second and fourth needles only. So for a hat with four extra stitches the count on the DPN’s would be 24, 26, 24, 26 giving a total of 100 stitches.

If you are using circular needles I would suggest using two stitch markers, one marking the beginning of the round and one marking the second pattern repeat at the 48th stitch.

I made this with two balls that were less than 190 yds in total.
