The MKAL for this pattern was during December 2016, therefore the downloadable pattern is still made up of 24 “clue” files.

The Back of the Bus group will be hosting a Frankensocks Mystery KAL for 1-24 December 2016. Part of the pattern will be released every day in the forum and the sock will finish on Christmas Eve. You will need to be following the thread on the Back of the Bus forum to get the clues every day. Members of the group will contribute clues to the pattern in turn so that nobody will know what the finished sock will look like!

As well as having a lark making it up as we go along, we will get to use up stash yarn, yes this will be our last dash to clean up our stash to make room for more. Bundle up around 150g of sock yarn and you are good to go.

Each sock will be made up of 12 clues with each clue needing at least 7g of yarn, a little more for the heel clues. We are hoping that this will be a commitment of one hour’s knitting per day which is exactly the me time you need at this busy time of year. The resulting socks may be cuff down or toe up, or even one of each!

The sizes will be be based on the standard S (64 stitches) M (72 stitches) L (80 stitches) but there may be increases or decreases to accommodate different parts of the pattern.

As this is the Back of the Bus, there are no rules. If you want to follow along and make a sleeve scarf, that is OK; if you want to add your own toe/heel/cuff or knit in a different order then that is also OK; if you want to knit at a different gauge, we welcome this. We also recognise that if you knit all 24 clues, these socks will be pretty long, so feel free to skip some clues for shorter socks.

Each project will be its own crazy work of art in the spirit of the Back of the Bus group!
