Franklin Park was inspired by my love of formal gardens, conservatories and landscape design. The natural world is an ever present muse for me. Orderly plans for the wildness of nature is a concept I find intriguing.

The tank is knit flat, from the bottom up, in front and back pieces. The intarsia design is presented in chart form and is worked on both front and back panels. Shoulders are seamed using the three-needle bind off technique. Shaped neckline stitches are picked up and the neck ribbing is worked in the round. Two sets of finishing instructions are provided. Option one includes seaming the sides at the hem and wearing the tank with open sides. The second option involves knitting and attaching sashes at the underarm that tie and secure the top. For both versions decorative embroidery further emphasizes the orderly, linear design. Lightweight with flexible styling options, this top is ideal for a variety of seasons and climates.

Choose the size closest to your actual chest (or widest upper body) circumference or one size smaller. The sides can be seamed at the hem and open at the chest or ties can be attached to join front and back panels at the underarm. Either finishing option looks best if the garment is close or slightly smaller in width than actual body width.

25 stitches & 37 rows = 4”/10 cm in stockinette,
worked flat, on larger needles, blocked.
