This chunky knit cowl features two types of cables: the moss heart and the propeller cables knit on a garter stitch background.

Worsted weight yarn is held double and knit on #13 needles for extra comfort and loftiness.

This cowl is a quick knit for those who are experienced and is an excellent project for those who want to practice their cabling techniques. As the gauge allows for loose stitches, this project is also perfect for anyone that wants to perfect the art of Japanese cabling (cabling without a cable needle) and has links within the pattern to help you along your way.

Materials:

  • 4 hanks (approximately 600 yards) of worsted weight yarn.
  • #11 and #13 circular needles or DPNS
  • Cable needle

Yarns used in pictures:

  • For the white: 4 hanks of Blue Sky Worsted Cotton in Drift (614).
  • For the grey: 2 hanks of Berroco Ultra Alpaca in Light Grey (6206) & 2 hanks of Salt & Pepper (6207).
