Fred the Flying Duck
Have you met Fred the Flying Duck? He’s just flown in and can’t wait to find his forever home on your wall! Fred is a very smart flying mallard duck, who can easily be hung on your living room wall to make a great faux taxidermy wall art decoration. Why not knit two or three Freds, for a classic line of kitsch retro flying ducks? Fred is 24cm / 9.5 inches long – including his bright yellow beak.
Is Fred easy to knit?
Yes he is! Fred is knitted flat on a pair of 4mm (UK 8/ US 6) knitting needles, making him a great project for a beginner: no need to knit in the round. He’s knitted using DK yarns - you’ll need 7 shades, and Stylecraft Special DK yarn suggestions are given with the pattern. Basic skills that you need to know: stocking stitch, increasing by knitting into the front and back of a stitch (inc 1) and decreasing by knitting 2 stitches together (k2tog). The knitting pattern includes detailed making up instructions and colour photos to help you on your way.
