Welcome to the FreeDC Yarn Bomb Community, started by Washington-based activists postering, messaging, demonstrating, and now, using textile signage to let everyone in the capital know Free DC’s message:
The people of DC are joyful and powerful and we deserve the right to govern ourselves.

The patterns are an artistic expression of craftivism, created for our Free DC community & neighbors to “yarn-bomb” the District of Columbia. Your unique artistic talents and creativity are welcome! The patterns are just suggestions. Feel free to use our version or your own, by knitting, crocheting, cross-stitching or any other fiber technique, with lettering in any style you like, (intarsia, Fair-Isle, duplicate stitch, embroidery, etc). We’ve developed the Free DC colorwork pattern in 3 styles, two vertical, (skinny & chunky) and one horizontal.
