Free Falling is a multi-color cowl with lots of different textures and stitch patterns. Play with colors, stripes, textures, and lace to knit the cowl you love. Use the stitch patterns provided or riff off with your own creations.

The cowl is knit in the round using a short circular needle or in magic loop using long circular needles. The pattern includes round-by-round instructions for making the sample cowl, exactly as pictured, and a generalized recipe you can use as a basis for your freestyle cowl.

The pattern is written with both metric and US terminology. Instructions for all the stitch patterns are provided both in written and charted format.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS

• Circumference: approx. 60 cm / 24”
• Length: approx. 70 cm / 28” (or adjustable)

MATERIALS
Yarn
Approx. 500–650 m / 550–710 yd of fingering-weight scraps, leftovers, samples, mini skeins, half skeins, gradient sets, or unicorn tails in as many colors as you like.

For a drapey cowl, use single-ply yarns, such as superwash merino. For an airy and ethereal look, use mohair or brushed alpaca for the lace sections.

Needles

• 3.5 mm / US #4 short circular needle (40 cm / 16”) or long circular needle(s) (80–100 cm / 32–40”) for working in magic loop
• Or pick a needle size that gives you the fabric you love.

Notions

• One stitch marker
• Darning needle

The pattern uses the following techniques: working in the round, twisted stitches, and lace. Instructions for the stitch patterns are provided in both written and charted format.

REFERENCES
To avoid jogs when knitting stripes in the round, work one round in the new color and then either

Free Falling neulotaan pyöröneuleena joko lyhyellä pyöröpuikolla tai pidemmillä pyöröpuikoilla loopaten. Ohjeessa on kerros kerrokselta kirjoitetut ohjeet juuri kuvissa esiintyvän kaltaiseen huiviin tai voit myös käyttää yleisluontoista reseptiä juuri haluamasi tuubihuivin neulomiseksi.

TARVIKKEET
Lanka
n. 500–650 m fingering-vahvuisia jämiä, minivyyhtejä, näytteitä, puolikkaita keriä, liukuvärisettejä tai unicorn tailseja niin monessa värissä kuin vain haluat.

Kauniisti laskeutuvan tuubihuivin saat käyttämällä yksisäikeisiä lankoja, esim. sinkkumerinoa. Keveyttä ja ilmavuutta tuubiin saa käyttämällä pitsineuleosioihin jotain pörröistä lankaa, kuten mohairia tai harjattua alpakkaa.

Puikot

• 3.5 mm lyhyt pyöröpuikko (40 cm) tai pidempi (80–100 cm) looppaamiseen.
• Tai valitse puikkokoko käsialasi ja halutun neulepinnan mukaan.
