Free Spirit Stole
Perfect for tossing on over a summer dress or even a bathing suit, this lacy stole will see you through summer in style, while the scarf size is ideal for a splash of color on a warm day. The naturally biasing Tunisian crochet stitch pattern creates a texture reminiscent of macramé, and a knotted fringe provides the perfect vintage-inspired finish.
In this interesting hybrid technique, each row has a forward pass where you pick up loops on a long hook, then a return pass where you work across those stitches and end with just one loop on your hook. Both the scarf and wrap are worked flat from one short end to the other, and the stitch pattern is simple enough for a beginner. The stitch is both written and charted, and full instructions are given for the knotted fringe. Yarns that have a crisp feel, like linen, cotton, or silk, work well in this design.
The fringe takes 100 (210) yards of yarn, so if you will not add fringe you can adjust the yardage needed.
This design is part of The Sun and Fog Summer 2021 collection and is available as part of that ebook, or as a single PDF pattern through Kira K Designs.
