Freeform Four
I created this motif purely as a tutorial to demonstrate freeform stitches and techniques. The motif itself measures 6” X 6” and could potentially be used as anything from a project embellishment to component of a large freeform project. The stitches and the shapes are quite versatile. They would be easy to modify as well as work into a larger project. It has a lot of texture that is quite visually interesting.
An intermediate familiarity with crochet is suggested. This tutorial is 14 pages and has 38 full-color photos. The second and third pictures in the listing show what the tutorial looks like. If you are new to some of the more advanced stitches/techniques it may be necessary to view a video in order to learn it. I provide written explanation of the stitches as well as links to the videos of where I learned.
Advanced stitches/techniques used in the tutorial:
• Magic Circle
• Knurl/Crab/Reverse sc/Corded ridge
• Standing hdc
• Standing dc
• Berry
• Royal ridge
• Bullion
I used the following acrylic yarn available from a number of Big Box stores:
• Sport yarn in the following colors - Ivory, Lt. Brown, Med. Brown, Dk. Brown
• Worsted weight yarn in Ivory color with a metallic gold strand
