How many mini skeins and leftovers are lurking in YOUR stash? The Freeplay Wrap is designed to work with any of them! The mix of fun construction and simple stitches makes Freeplay interesting to knit and incredibly flexible. Work it as written, or use the guidance provided in the pattern to customize your version to suit your preferences and the yarn you have. Tips are given to alter the width, length, number of colors, and even yarn weight, and mesh is both written and charted.

YARN
Freeplay is designed to work with any number of colors and yardages, so use what you have! The pattern provides guidance on how to do so.

The sample used McMullin Fiber Co. Posh Sock (80% Merino, 10% Cashmere,10% Nylon; 420 yd / 384 m per 115 g / 4 oz skein), 1 skein each of Aubergine (MC), October Mist (CC1), Butterscotch (CC2), Lavender (CC3), Demure (CC4), and Glow (CC5).

To make the same wrap with different fingering-weight yarn:

• MC: approximately 273 yd / 250 m
• CC1: approximately 67 yd / 62 m
• CC2: approximately 102 yd / 94 m
• CC3: approximately 110 yd / 101 m
• CC4: approximately 231 yd / 212 m
• CC5: approximately 225 yd / 206 m

Totals include a 15% buffer.

NEEDLES
Two pairs of US 4 / 3.5 mm circular needles, or size needed to obtain gauge; 40” / 100 cm or longer circular needles are recommended to accommodate large number of stitches

Optional: Additional needle (circular, straight, or DPN) of the same or similar size for three-needle bind-off. You may also use the non-working end of one of the pairs holding the live stitches.

NOTIONS
1 stitch marker, 1 removable stitch marker (optional, to mark right side), tapestry needle

GAUGE
23 stitches and 30 rows = 4” 10 cm in stockinette stitch after firm blocking. Gauge is not crucial but will affect yardage used and final dimensions.

TECHNIQUES
Single increases and decreases, yarn overs, garter tab cast-on, three-needle bind-off. Pattern includes links to more information about required stitches and techniques.
