We are offering dyed-to-order yarns for this design on our shop!

Freewheeler is the kind of sweater you can throw on over anything. It has a very relaxed shape that is super comfortable to wear and an interesting construction. Simple yet modern, the Freewheeler will keep you carefree and cosy all day long.

Freewheeler is knit from the top down using short rows to shape the yoke and sleeves. The sleeves are knit at the same time as the yoke sections.

Freewheeler was designed to be worn with 4-6” (10-15 cm) positive ease around the bust. As this design is a batwing shape, there is plenty of room around the upper arm. If you prefer to size down for less ease, you can easily do so by knitting the next size down.

We have used a mohair silk lace held together with a single-ply fingering weight yarn. If you don’t like working with mohair, you can easily substitute both with a DK or light worsted weight yarn.

Both yarns are held together throughout the project.

Needles
5 mm (US 8) circular needles, three sets. 4 mm (US 6) circular needles.

For this design, it is much easier to use interchangeable needles with stoppers so you can use the cables as holders. If you do use this method, you will need 3 cables of no less than 32”(80cm).

Gauge
18 sts and 31 rows to 4”(10 cm) in Garter Stitch using larger needles.
