French Flair
French Flair was originally designed as a loom-a-long for during the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris. The colors and stitch patterns are an ode to the City of Paris, Parisan food and fashion. The pattern makes little French scarf in an elongated triangle shape, perfect to tie around your neck or on the handle of a tote bag or purse. Think chic!
Accessibility statement:
The large print version version has 24 point, all black, Ariel font. There are no italics, and all directions are fully written out. Charts are included but are not required to complete the pattern. They are enlarged for easier reading.
Yarn:
You will need three solid colors of yarn. You can choose the classic French tricolore of White, Blue and Red, or a combination of your own. Yarn weight will depend on the gauge of your loom.
Yarn weight:
5/8-inch gauge: bulky #5
½ or 7/16-inch gauge: bulky #5 or worsted #4
3/8-inch small gauge: worsted #4 or DK
Loom:
5/8-inch gauge with 32 pegs
½ or 7/16-inch gauge with 36 pegs
3/8-inch gauge – small, with 40 pegs
These numbers are guidelines for your scarf, not hard and fast limits, and the pattern may be easily adjusted. Your French Flair will be a flat knit.
Yardage amounts for the suggested peg counts:
DK = 220 yards
Worsted = 200 yards
Bulky = 175 yards
