French Manor Purses
I designed this purse while spending a “girls’ getaway weekend” with my friend Judy at the lovely French Manor in bucolic South Sterling, Pennsylvania Each row of this pattern is spelled out for you for ease and accuracy in working the design. Gauge is 6 sts = 1” on a size 4 needle with DK yarn. The finished purse (blocked and with edging) measures approximately 5½ ” X 11 ½”.
If you are looking for a project that will be a challenge, hold your interest, and stand the test of time, you have found it in The French Manor Purse.
If you like intricate stitchwork, you will enjoy this project. I wanted something a little different, with motifs that would remind me of the lovely French Manor.
You will need to be familiar with the picot cast-on, knitting, purling, several stitch crossings, bobbles, and color changing. Follow the stitch-by-stitch, row-by-row instructions, and you should have no problem.

Materials: 1 sk @ 108 yds DK weight yarn in mint, multi, rose, and red
2 sk beige
½ yd each lining and interfacing
plastic needlepoint canvas
1 12”X18” sheet ultra stiff plastic needlepoint canvas
magnetic clasp
2 small pieces stiff interfacing to reinforce area where magnetic closure pieces are attached
beaded necklace with clasp in desired length for strap, if desired
2 jump rings for strap
2 extra lobster claw clasp
Needles: size 4 straight
crochet hook size C
