French Regency Coverlet/Afghan
As filet crochet instructions can vary, along with personal preferences, I recommend googling “how to filet crochet” to find the technique that works perfectly with your unique style. This is a pattern chart only, with a basic how-to pdf added in a second file.
Worked from images of decadent brocade, you can create a bit of Old World elegance for your home. Use the regular view to make the flourishes solid while leaving the background empty and put it over a solid-colored bedspread for contrast through the background, or use the inverted view to do it the other way, with the bedspread showing through the flourishes… whichever suits your tastes better. The measurements given are for a queen-size bed which needs a coverlet of at least 102”wx116”h, but can easily be worked to fit a small twin or a giant king!
Mesh count is 449w x 449h (8 diamonds wide, 8 diamonds high)
Approximate finished sizes, and I do mean APPROXIMATE- your actual size may vary depending on how tight/loose your stitches are, and if you’ve used alternative stitches:
Size 30 thread and 11 hook: 94.25”w x 103.25”h
Size 20 thread and 9 hook: 98.75”w x 107.75”h
Size 10 thread and 7 hook: 103.25”w x 112.25”h
Size 5 thread and 4 hook: 121.25”w x 143.5”h
Worsted 4 ply yarn and F hook: 269.5”w x 269.75”h
