Freya Hood
Description: This balaclava is worked from the top down in a two-colour ribbed stitch with two yarns held together, throughout. Knitting this hood with a fuzzy yarn like alpaca suri or mohair as the contrast colour will result in an extra warm and fuzzy interior. This hood has a slouched fit, which helps reduce the “hat hair” effect and can be pulled back easily for when you’re shop-hopping!
Method: knitting
Skill Level: intermediate
Yarn: 100 g of Artemis Yarns sock yarn in Swamp (MC) and 50 g of Artemis Yarns silky suri in Lullaby (CC).
Size: Size 1 will fit head circumference 20-22 in and Size 2 will fit head circumference 22-24 in.
Needles: US4 (3.5 mm) circular needles, one US3 (3.00 mm) or US4 (3.5 mm) cable needle.
Approx. Gauge: 38 rows x 15 sts in fisherman’s rib (38 rows will appear as 19 MC sts in ribbed pattern) for 10 x 10 cm (4 x 4 in), unstretched, washed and blocked.
Notions: scissors, tapestry needle, stitch marker.
