Friendly Cardigan
This is an idea for a machine knitted cardigan.
The cardigan features narrow shoulders and two full width Front pieces. The cardigan hangs with a narrow silhouette on both slender and not so slender wearers.
The prototype is knitted in 2/20 wool, with 2/60 silk. Schematics are provided so that you can knit a gauge swatch and calculate directions for your particular combination of machine and yarn. Hand knitters could also use the design by going through the same gauge and calculate process. I used the iPad/iPhone app Touch and Go knitting to assist my calculations.
For additional construction notes, see this blog post
The prototype is knitted on a Passap machine using Long Stitch. And the neck and sleeve shapings were made using cut and sew techniques
The design could just as well be knitted in Stocking stitch or maybe a Card 1 tuck stitch on a Japanese machine
