This .pdf crochet pattern is written in standard American crochet terms. With this very detailed pattern, you can make a super realistic looking boarlet.

This is an intermediate pattern. It’s made with basic stitches. The difficulty of this pattern lies in crochet-attaching all four paws. I try to explain it as thoroughly as possible, and it isn’t that difficult when you understand the principle. The benefit of this kind of shape is that there’s hardly any assembling to do once you’ve finished crocheting. You only need to attach the ears and the head.

Size
If you use the recommended yarn, your owl will be 5.5 inch / 14 from head to tail.

Materials
For this crochet boarlet you’ll need worsted weight Lètt Lopi yarn and an E US/3.5 mm crochet hook. You’ll need two or three colours of yarn (you can ignore the straw colour if you prefer): barley - 1419 (1/5 of a 100-yard skein), acorn heather - 0053 (1/12) and the same amount of straw - 1418. For the eyes I’ve used 8 mm animal safety eyes. You will also need fibrefill, I’ve used wool filling. A pipe-cleaner to make the boarlet bendable is optional.

Yarn
Istex Lett lopi. I strongly recommend using a fuzzy yarn because it gives the best result. Keep in mind a different type of yarn can give a different result!

Gauge is unimportant for this pattern. If the pieces are crocheted tightly enough, they will not gape visibly when stuffed. You can make a little test swap to be sure.
