Fritz & Liesl Alpine Knitted Friends
Yarn needed for Fritz:
Approximately 8½ oz. sport weight yarn
- 2 oz. skin color (head, hands, legs)
- 2 oz. sweater color, plus a few yards contrasting color
- 1 oz. lederhosen grey
- 1 oz. sock color
- ½ oz. boot color, plus 1 yard of contrasting color for laces
- 2 oz. hat color; loden green is most appropriate
- 1 yard of eye color
- Bulkier yarn for hair or beard or both
Yarn needed for Liesl:
- 2 oz. skin color (head, hands, legs)
- 2 oz. sweater color, plus a few yards contrasting color
- 2 oz. skirt color
- 2 oz. pinafore color (we prefer white)
- 1 oz. underpants (knitters choice!)
- 1 oz. sock color
- 1 yd eye color
- ½ oz. boot or slipper color
- 2 oz. hat color
Other Materials:
- 2 sets #2 dpns
- Crochet hook #F or 0
- Small tapestry needle
- Polyester fill
- Stitch holders (optional)
Gauge: 6 sts = 1”
Skill level: Intermediate
Fritz and Liesl measure 13” – 14” tall. Their basic design was created by Jacqueline Ruf of Darlington, Wisconsin, and adapted by Carol. Jackie’s husband, Fritz, who was of Swiss heritage, was Jackie’s inspiration.
