Penguins look like they’re having so much fun! They waddle down to the water and then they jump in, one penguin after another. The birds that walk so laboriously on land are so agile and graceful in the water!

The cowl is full of double knit penguins, jumping into the water, swimming, and hopping out again. And if you twirl around real fast… This pattern is double knit in the round and it assumes that you know how to double knit. The instructions do not show you how to double knit. You will also need the ability to read charts, since the pattern is charted only. You will need approximately 450 yards of fingering weight (sock) yarn, made up of a small amount of a number of different colors. If you want the penguins to have pretty orange feet, you will need to use duplicate stitch to do this.

The cowl’s size is 31“ x 8“. You can make the cowl narrower, 31” x 6.5” if you eliminate the wave bands, and you can make the cowl longer by doing the chart twice.
