Fronde is Italian for leaves and in this pretty scarf the leaves grow from stems that go across the garter stitch background. By increasing and decreasing at both ends of the right side rows, a bias effect is achieved and when combined with a slow colour changing yarn, a beautiful scarf is created.

The double slipped stitch edge gives a beautiful finish and the yarn over increases create a beautiful lace border on one side, mirroring the effect created by the other edge as the decreases frame the leaf motif.

Materials: 1 ball Poema Tweed by Laines du Nord 5 ply (sport weight) - 94% merino 6% viscose (600 metres/656 yards per 150 grams). Pictured in Rusted Blue.

Alternatively, 150 to 200 grams of 4 ply (fingering weight) of other commercially available gradient yarns can be used.

Gauge
: 22 stitches & 40 rows = 10 cm (4”) in garter stitch.
Gauge is not essential but will affect final size; it is best to chose a gauge that will produce a finished texture according to personal taste.

Needles: 60cm (24”) circular needles, 3.75mm (US 5) or size needed to obtain gauge, or preferred knitting needles for working flat.

Finished dimensions: approximately 160cm/63” long and 25cm/10” wide.

Pattern is written with a chart and written (row by row) instructions.
