Front Range Shawl
This two color shawl was designed for the fifth anniversary of my LYS, the Longmont Yarn Shoppe in Longmont, Colorado. The design starts with a stockinette section and multiple increases. Then, goes to a sweeping short row section and alternating color stripes. It finishes off with a bias edge. The shawl is full of texture and will allow you to learn a few techniques.
Pick two yarns in contrasting or complimentary colors of about 400 yards each. The recommended yarn from Theodora’s Pearls is bamboo.
When picking colors, a tonal or variegated yarn works best in as the main color with a contrasting solid or tonal for the secondary color.
Gauge isn’t necessarily important. But going very large in needle size will increase the yardage necessary to finish the shawl. The pattern does a good job of using most of both colors.
Size: aproximately 70 inches long and 20 inches deep.
Here’s a video tutorial with some different techniques for how to do short rows.
