Notes from the Designer:
Heading to the farmers market? Don’t forget to grab your Front Street Bag on your way out the door! Perfect for toting fresh fruits and veggies, homemade sweet treats, or whatever other goodies you discover at the local market, the cute and handy Front Street Bag will be your new, favorite, on-the-go tote.
The Front Street Bag uses just a single skein of Expression Fiber Arts Sincere Sock yarn, and the design is perfect for showing off the beautiful color shifts in a lively skein of variegated yarn. The bag is constructed from the bottom up and begins with a Magic Ring cast on. Alternating sections of garter stitch and stretchy, openwork stitches are worked in the round until you reach the handles. Then, you’ll cast on additional stitches to work the handles in the round, before separately binding off stitches underneath the handles. An optional single crochet edge adds a nice, clean finish to your bag.

- Because I am a tight knitter, I highly recommend checking your gauge against mine. If you are a loose knitter, taking the time to match the indicated gauge and dropping down a needle size or two, if needed, will help to ensure that you achieve the correct texture. You want to achieve a tight, dense fabric that won’t stretch too much with use. If you work this bag in a looser gauge than what’s indicated, you will need additional yarn.
- If you wish to reinforce the bottom of the bag and the handles, you can knit both sections with your yarn held double and the recommended needle. This will require additional yardage than what is listed in the pattern.
