Construction
This hat was born from a book my daughter Allie loves reading. The character loves cats equally as much as she does. Allie adores cats and all things feline, so when her new favorite book character wears a cute white hat with over the top pompoms, then it was only appropriate that Allie too would wear this same hat while reading it! The name Frost and Snowdrop came from the names of the kittens the character takes care of.
This hat is knit using a DK weight yarn. It is a fun and easy knit; great for single skein knits. Frost and Snowdrop hat is knit in the round from ribbing up to crown with an (optional) extra long ribbing section to allow it to be turned up. This color work design never uses more than two colors per row, making it fun to knit and easy on the hands. The pattern is worked in chart form and finished off with two super cute pompom tassels on top.
The original pattern uses a white DK weight yarn with silver tinsel spun throughout giving it a sparkly look (I can not say what brand it was as it was from my late grandmothers stash, making it that much more sentimental to Allie). The red and blue are both Brown sheep super wash sport weight yarn in the colorway Raspberry (the red), and Peacock (the blue).
