This is a Special Edition from the Frost Collection, featuring the Frost Cowl and Frost Shawl as a set. These two pieces were made to be worn together, or separately. In this one pattern you will find both the Frost Cowl and the Frost Shawl together for a special price. With the FIRSTFROST coupon code you will get the two patterns for $6.50, a savings of $5.50 compared to buying the two patterns separately.
The first two photos show examples of how the Frost Cowl and Frost Shawl may be layered together. Other photos show the two items alone. The stitch detail is from the Frost Cowl; the Frost Shawl does not feature the same pattern stitch, as the pieces were made to coordinate without matching 100%.
I designed the elegant Frost ensemble especially for the holiday season, meant to be worn by teens and adults.
The pairing of two luxury yarns along with simple, clean stitch patterns makes these special occasion accessories irresistibly perfect for December through February holidays and special outings.
The main yarn I used for these pieces is Knit Picks’ (knitpicks.com) Diadem, a heavenly soft blend of baby alpaca and mulberry silk; I used their “Moonstone” colorway in fingering weight.
The luxury fur yarn I used is Louisa Harding’s Luzia in the “Silver” colorway (I found mine at WEBS aka yarn.com).
My son gave the Diadem in Moonstone last Christmas, and I happened to order the Luzia in Silver about the same time. By a lucky coincidence, the two yarns looked as if they had been dyed to match. That is what inspired me to create these very special items.
My designs began with this triangular shawl pattern. It turned out so lovely that I decided to design and knit a matching hat.
The hat looked so pretty with the shawl, I decided I would really enjoy having a matching cowl as well.
As I worked on the cowl, I suddenly visualized how extraordinary it would be to also have a pair of matching fingerless gloves.
