Frostine Beanie
The Frostine beanie is a statement piece that embodies both style and comfort, making it the perfect companion for chilly days and a charming addition to anyone’s winter wardrobe. The beanie is worked holding three strands of mohair together making it lightweight, fluffy and warm. Choose a shade that evoke the serene beauty of a snow-kissed frosty landscape.
Thecnique
The Frostine Beanie is worked holding three strands of mohair together starting from the double-folded brim using knit stitches that are knitted through the back loop. Then you fold your work double and knit your sts together with your CO sts (so that you knit through both your cast on st and your regular st) forming the brim. After changing to a bigger needle size you work the rest of the beanie in brioche knitting creating a beautiful texture. Then decreases are done for the top of the beanie. Add a tuft using leftover yarn as a cute detail.
Size: S (M), circumference of finished beanie once blocked 43.5 (47) cm / 13.5 (18.75)”.
Size guide: It’s recommended to have negative ease about 5 - 10 cm / 2 - 4” measured from your own head circumference.
Gauge: 22 sts x 28 rnds = 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4” in rib pattern using 3 mm (US2.5) needles and 19 sts x 18 rnds = 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4” in brioche stitch using 4 mm (US6) needles (note: 18 rnds in brioche stitch are counted as 36 rnds.) holding three strands of mohair together, after blocking.
