This frothy capelet adds an elegant touch to a dressy outfit. Worked in a silk/mohair yarn at an open gauge, it is light as a feather but adds warmth to the shoulders. Picture it over a sleeveless or sheath gown for a fancy night out on the town. The capelet is very easy to knit—the most difficult part is dealing with the slippery mohair. A subtle, simple slipped stitch pattern provides some structure and interest at the neckline, and a seed stitch edging means no finishing is needed at the opening. Simple buttonholes provide spots to add decorative buttons for the closure (use rhinestones instead of the mother-of-pearl buttons used here for some added bling!). The cast on and bind off match each other and provide a nice rounded edge. Work one up in a color that coordinates with your outfit and be ready to walk the red carpet!
