The mitten begins with a ribbing that is knitted with a type of twisted elastic, a neat and slightly firmer version of rib knitting. Afterwards a decorative Latvian braid is knitted. Then the hand is knitted according to Diagram 1, and then the thumb according to Diagram 2.

Sizes and measurements
The mittens can be knitted in two adult sizes – Medium and Large. The size of the mitt depends on the size of the needle used.
Medium: Needle size: 3.0mm / US 2.5
Large: Needle size: 3.25mm / US 3

Needles
The stitch size is only a recommendation, use the size that gives you the correct gauge.
Medium: 3mm/US 2½ / 60/80/100 cm circular needles or 3mm/US 2½ double pointed needles.
Large: 3.25mm/US 3 / 60/80/100 cm circular needles or 3mm/US 3 double pointed needles.

Gauge
Medium: 26sts x 30 rounds = 10x10 cm (4” x 4”), multi-coloured knitting after blocking.
Large: 23sts x 26 rounds = = 10x10 cm (4” x 4”), multi-coloured knitting after blocking.

Vanten inleds med en mudd som stickas med en typ av vriden resår, en prydlig och lite fastare version av ribbstickning. Sedan stickas en dekorativ lettisk fläta. Därefter stickas handen enligt Diagram 1, och sedan tummen enligt Diagram 2.
