The Frozen Fractals Shawl is designed for the single skein in your stash, that gorgeous yarn you bought because it was too pretty to leave on the shelf, but you haven’t been able to find a pattern that’ll really let the colors go.

The lace pattern will work with any colorway, from variegated to gradient. It features a super easy 2-row repeat so you can make it any size you want, and it only uses ch, sc, and dc, so it’s accessible even to beginners. It’s easy to memorize and soothing to work up for a shawl that is thoroughly enjoyable to create. Worked from the top-down, the Frozen Fractals Shawl is a classic triangle that can be worn and styled in a hundred different ways.

Thanks to MollyGirl Yarn for providing the yarn for the pattern sample!

Yarn and Colors
The lace pattern is specifically designed for colorful and variegated yarns, but will look amazing in a solid, tonal, or gradient. It’ll look great in anything from a lace to an aran weight and does not require a lot of stitch definition.

The sample uses just one skein of 450yds, but it’s easily adjustable and you can work until you have just enough yardage left for the edging.

Skills required
ch, sc, dc

Construction
The pattern is a top-down triangle worked in one piece. It’s a two-row repeat that can be worked as many times as you want, followed by a single row of edging.

Printing
Both a regular and printer friendly version are available! The regular version includes large photo on the first page, so print accordingly. For details on what the printer-friendly version includes, see this page. If you are working from the printer-friendly version and are having trouble with a pattern, I strongly recommend checking the regular version. The text will be easier to read and it might have more detailed instructions.

Screen Reader Accessibility
The main pattern pdf is designed to be screen reader accessible. The text is all in one column and headers are formatted according to the style sheet. The pattern is written out completely and the images have descriptive alt text.
