Frozen Snowflakes
This pattern is for overlay mosaic crochet snowflakes. There are two designs included - for a single snowflake or a repeating snowflake pattern.
This is a fairly simple pattern suitable for someone who is intermediate at crochet, particularly if you have done some mosaic crochet previously.
This mosaic crochet pattern includes written, step-by-step instructions, charts with drop-down stitches marked with an X, a few illustrative photos and links to video tutorials that may help with the techniques involved (videos were not made by me but are my recommendations for crocheters who find these helpful). Please note the back of any mosaic crochet design will look like stripes (see photo) so the design only appears on the front side. You can download the pattern in either US or UK crochet terminology.
I give some basic instructions for making a child’s purse, baby blanket, or cushion cover, but these snowflake patterns could also be used for a scarf, stocking, table runner or wall hanging, amongst many other possibilities. The pattern repeats every 23 stitches across so can be scaled up and down in size easily. I’d love to see what you make!
For a single snowflake, I used 33 metres/11g colour A (blue) yarn, and 24m/8g colour B (white). The repeating pattern used 53m/18g colour A (blue) and 34m /12g colour B (white) for two snowflakes. I used DK weight (group 3) yarn, Stylecraft special DK in lapis & white.
I also have a winter hat pattern using this snowflake motif and a Christmas tree skirt with the snowflake design - you can buy them in a bundle with this blanket for £1-2 off your total (no code needed, but cannot be combined with other offers/ codes).
