Frozen Waterfall Shawl
Sparkling beads cascade down the Frozen Waterfall Shawl. The pattern starts at the small end and grows from there, with lines of beads worked in to add a little shimmer.
The beads move through the shawl in neatly repetitive rows and the bead patterning is visible on both sides of the shawl. The shawl fades through four colors and the color changes are worked so there’s only two ends for each color. The pattern uses post stitches, but is otherwise beginner friendly, and is easily customized.

Yarn, Beads, and Other Materials
The pattern is designed as a fade and uses an equal amount of four coordinating colors in any color style. The pattern can be adjusted to work with any amount of any number of colors. The beads and texture add visual interest so the shawl looks amazing even in one solid color.
I recommend a bead that contrasts sharply with your yarn so that the beads are clearly visible.
The pattern calls for an 5.0mm/H hook for crocheting and a 1.4mm/8 steel hook for beading. Adjust the hook as needed for the size of your yarn and the steel hook can be swapped out for beading tool of your choice. If you’re using smaller beads, you may want a smaller steel hook.
The pattern needs 650 size 4/0 beads for a DK shawl. Adjust the bead size as needed for your yarn - the beads are added as you go, so the bead needs to fit comfortably around two strands of yarn. I recommend 6/0 beads for fingering weight, 4/0 beads for sport/DK weight, or 2/0 beads for worsted/aran weight. The amount of beads needed will vary with any pattern modifications.
Customizations
Notes are included for adjusting the following:
bead spacing; adding/removing bead sections; adding/removing rows in any solid or bead section; adjusting colors
Skills Required
ch, dc, hdc, post sts, beading as you go, changing colors, counting rows, counting sts
Construction
The shawl is worked side-to-side to form an asymmetrical triangle. The shawl is crocheted in one piece without seaming and the color changes are worked without cutting the yarn, so there’s only ever two ends per skein.
