Fruit in a Blanket
Inspiration:
A coworker of mine wanted a gift for a dear friend and had commissioned me to come up with a fruit blanket. I couldn’t find a design that worked with the requirements that the gifter had in mind so I charted out all of these different fruits and love how big and cozy this blanket it.
Pattern:
The design itself is easily customizable so you can move the charts around where you want them to be, or eliminate some of the fruit if you don’t want some of them to be included. Have fun with it!
Yardage:
The pattern lists all of the different colours (9) that are required to complete this pattern. I purchased 27 skeins to complete this pattern and had very little left over in each colour. While you do not need full skeins of each colour, I do recommend full skeins due to tension differences when knitting. You may be able to use a partial skein for the Black parts or eliminate the colour altogether if you do not want your watermelon to have seeds.
Finished Size:
While the pattern is designed to be 60” wide by 80” long, it can be easily customized to be a 3x3 pattern instead of 3x4 if you are wanting a different size. By changing up the charts, you can change up the pattern to be the way you would like it to be giving you many different design options.
Gauge:
12 sts by 12 rows on US size 13 knitting needles will yield a blanket of approximately 60” by 80” in size.
Knitting Needle:
This pattern is knit in one piece. As you are working a lot of stitches across each row, you will require a long cable needle. I used a 60” cable on my interchangeable needles but you can get away using a slightly smaller cable if that’s what you prefer.
This pattern may not be redistributed or copied in any way. Finished items may be sold, I just ask that you give credit to my shop for the pattern. Due to the nature of patterns, this pattern may not be returned or exchanged. All sales are final.
Happy knitting!
