DID YOU KNOW…?
In many Chinese houses you can see this character posted upside down on the wall or on the door. Do you know why? Because the character for “upside down” (倒) is a homonym of the character for “to arrive” (到). Therefore, posting this 福 (fu) character upside down means “the blessing is arriving.”
The term Fu Lu Shou (福祿壽) is commonly used in the Chinese culture to denote the three attributes of a good life: blessing (or happiness), prosperity and longevity. It is especially popular during Chinese New Year.
