The full snow moon comes in February, as winter turns a corner. This cozy cowl and the matching fingerless mitts work better than a scarf and mittens for winter-morning chores inside the barn. There are no scarf tails to get caught on feeders; fingers are free to work the latches on pens. Barbara’s cowl and mitts translate equally well for running errands or a walk to the mailbox.

This project is knit from the wool of Cocoa, my very first ewe, who now enters her sixteenth winter.
