This skirt may be made in any color or length just for fun. It can also have a  cheer-leader look if made in school colors. Skirt may also be sized for adult ladies.

This skirt may be made on any machine at all to fit any girl. Ideally one should measure  the intended wearer. Measure the hips or waist, whichever is larger. Generally for children’s figures, measure the waist, for girls heading towards womanhood, measure the  hips. The “size” in the pattern is the circumference of the skirt opening. No ease is  needed due to the stretch of the knit but you may add some if you want. Also measure  the length to which you’ll like the skirt to fall. Directions will include an extra inch beyond the stated length because the lower edge naturally curls which shortens the skirt  about this much.

Gauges given refer to the main yarn.  For bulkies, try to get 4 stitches/6 rows per inch with a #4 yarn. Mid-gauges may use  this gauge or try for 5.5 stitches/8 rows/“ with a #3 yarn. Standards, Passaps & Super-bas use a #1-2 main yarn and strive for a gauge of 7 stitches/10 rows per inch. At the  end of the pattern are instructions for adjusting if you cannot match the gauge.
